Mehneer Sudan is a choreographer, performer, teacher working in the field of Contemporary and Jazz Dance for the past 15 years. Trained in multiple dance forms she has been steadily working towards developing a movement vocabulary that is immediate in its expressivity, striving to find a balance between abstraction and depiction and pushing against an accepted aesthetic.
Her professional career began at The Danceworx Performing Arts Academy, India and further at The Northern School of Contemporary Dance in Leeds, UK. She has trained with artists from across the globe while choreographing and teaching in York, Leeds, London and Cambodia.
In October 2014, she won a Special Jury prize, second runner’s up at the Prakriti Excellence in Contemporary Dance Awards, Chennai. Her work ‘Of Women – An Inter-disciplinary, collaborative performance’ was presented with the support of Goethe-Institut /Max Mueller Bhavan, Delhi in collaboration with Pro-Helvetia Swiss Arts Council in September 2014.
She has performed at the IGNITE! Festival of Contemporary Dance, 2012 and 2010, Celebrate Bandra festival, Mumbai 2011, NSD Theatre festival, Delhi 2010, Kala Ghoda Festival, Mumbai 2010, The Park New Festival, Chennai 2009, Communal Harmony Day, Gujarat 2006; among many others.
