Alessandra Colasanti 36 years old, playwriter, screenwriter, theater director, video maker, actress and performer from Brazil, started her professional career as fashion and costume designer. Masters graduated in Teoria do Teatro at Universidade do Rio de Janeiro (UNI-Rio). Since 2008, has developed studys about theater monologues as part of a FAPERJ research grant entitled “Diálogos entre Monólogos, inscrição e execução de solos contemporâneos”. Her name is related to the renewal of the contemporary theatrical scene in Rio de Janeiro, with works focused on thematic contemplation and language research.
As an author and actress, she presented the work-in-progress performance "A Bailarina de Vermelho" ( “Ballerina in Red”) . The multimedia project is a cross between different languages and artistic supports, such as theatre, video, performance art, urban intervention, internet, photography and proposes a reflection about art, culture and contemporary language.
Her authorial works, as the theatrical monologue "Anticlássico", Colasanti’s authorial theatre work debut , box office and critical success, is hailed as hilarious and pretty intelligent , such as the plays “Banal” and “Coelho Branco Sobre Branco”
As theater director, she has worked with Michel Melamed in the plays "Dinheiro Grátis" and "Regurgitophagy" ,aclaimed by the public and the critics in Brazil, and abroad (Paris: Carreau du Temple - l'Année du Brésil en France (2005); New York: PS122-MabouMines (2006), Under The Radar Festival (2008), and Germany: Berlim (2007) , Koblenz (2007).
"The true story of Ballerina in Red", is her first short movie to travel aroud the world (Brazil,Barcelona, Miami, NY, Vancouver,London, Buenos Aires and Montevideu)
