Heike Hurst (Frauen und Film) In welche Schablonen wird die Frau als Mutter im Kino gepresst? In einem Kino, das vorrangig männlich geprägt ist, offenbaren sich Ideologien, die der Frau und besonders der Mutter…See More

THREE SHORT PIECES ABOUT LUST at http://tatwerk-berlin.de/de/kontakt/anfahrt

March 2, 2018 at 8pm to March 4, 2018 at 10pm
Three aspects of Lust as a force that drives and influences our behaviour in to a variety of forms and outcomes. A wild and untameable impulsion, a beautiful and poetic freedom when accepted, a shaming and obscure sin when repressed. Sexuality is the motor of life, a source of infinite pleasure and, often, despair.Hibuya Park In the 50`s the green area in Tokio called Hibya used to be a rare example of a gay cruising scene.. The atmosphere of sordid excitement and social blame related to the…See More

February 10, 2018 at 2pm to February 11, 2018 at 6pm
What is my own mask? What makes me free? How do I create a new character far enough from myself to be different and close enough to express myself? This workshop will be a theatrical approach to creation through Balinese masks. We will explore these ideas through two avenues:1. From the body to the mask. 2. From the mask to the body. There is an inner exploration first, to recognize the body as it is at the present moment. Then we will break that moment in the creation of something new. For…See More

ANIMAL MOVEMENT / MB TRAINING at TATWERK | PERFORMATIVE FORSCHUNG Hasenheide 9 Gewerbehof - 2. Hinterhof, Aufgang 1, 3. OG 10967 Berlin Kreuzberg

January 20, 2018 from 10am to 1pm
Training for the body as a whole to build up or hold a basic constitution. Animal Movement uses the intuitive and efficient way animals move. It trains mobility, power, coordination and balance in a natural and humorous way. MB Training (mind/body; muscle/bone) is based on (dis-)coordination, martial arts and dance technics. It makes the body ‘think’ itself, instead of only being lead by the brain. Following dynamic, physical challenging and continuuous movements, the training aims to get the…See More

Through improvisation tasks and excercises, we will start with an individual exploration to connect to sensations, find your own balance, center and play with the notions of weight transfers. I am proposing to the participants to travel between the on and the off balance and search the limits of it in…See More

Our Approach

An open space at the intersection of theatre, dance and performance, where instruction and learning are combined with experimentation and praxis.

We see Tatwerk as a playground for contemporary approaches to the performing arts. In using the word playground, we voice our fundamental concern with pursuing approaches free of dogma and inhibition, in a space where our work can originate from − and aims to further elaborate on − the intersection of theatre, dance and performance.
We approach the performing arts from a bodily perspective. We believe that our strength and asset is the body, and our language is body movement. The body is stage and platform, medium and matter. Every performance is an enquiry into the aesthetics and boundaries of body strength and expression. In centering attention on the body, we aim to transcend the spoken word. Moreover, as a space for exploring post-dramatic theatre, we also engage in experiments that attempt to abandon the concept of drama altogether.
Tatwerk lives and breathes through the commitment, ideas and work of experts − scholars, performers, dancers, directors − and students alike. With everyone who participates in Tatwerk, we encourage the questioning of boundaries − personal, within the field, according to expectations and conventions − and the setting of new ones. We hope that experts and students will make themselves at home at Tatwerk, and work with us to transform the ways in which theatre, dance and performance − as well as Tatwerk as a space − are expressed and can develop in the future.
