Savage Amusement is the name which expands across the work of interdisciplinary artist, Melanie Jame Wolf.
Sometimes solo, sometimes with friends.
This work is mostly performance based, usually site-specific, often invites participation & increasingly investigates video as a performance object and the screen as a performance space.
It is also a curatorial and critical practice.
As Savage Amusement, Wolf is currently investigating themes of love, distance, language, memory, gender, the animal and the screen in her work.
Melanie Jame is an Australian-born artist who lives & works between Melbourne & Berlin.
She has trained, and continues to train, extensively in performance & practice led research in both Australia & the EU and has lectured in site-specific performance making at Monash University, Melbourne.
Melanie Jame is also a member of Triage.
Since 2008 with Triage since she has co-created and presented numerous works including: An Appointment with J Dark (Arts House, Melbourne, 2012 - Nominated for a 2012 Green Room Award in the category of Outstanding Production: Creative Audience Agency), Strange Passions (Exchange Radical Moments! Festival of Live Art, Berlin, 2011), An Appointment with J Dark (Underbelly Arts Lab & Festival, Sydney, 2011) and It's All About You (West Space @ West Wing, Melbourne, 2010).
