For some years now my focus is on the performance art and its creative process. Live art has my special attention because of its ephemeral and intangible phenomenon. It fascinates me seeing other people doing something and the way they are doing it. How does somebody open a door, how do you take a seat on a chair, how does the person in front of you hold his fork. The movement that comes from the action, seen from an abstract view, disconnected from their meaning, excites me. I’m looking for the relation between the controlled actions and the one who are unconscious and sometimes emerge unintentionally. I want to emphasize the absurdities of social norms. With an inquisitive approach I use my artist practice to learn about the nature of social norms.
Alongside my solo practice I collaborate with two collectives, one is a food-performance based duo called Neandertaler and the other is Tricksters that focuses on improvisation in performance art. Since 2009 I am the co-producer of PAE (Performance Art Event) in Rotterdam.
