ERIKA LATTA is originally from the Northwest where she was raised on the Lummi Reservation near Bellingham, Washington. She holds a BFA in Theater at the University of Washington and a MFA in Acting from Columbia University. She has lived and worked in Brooklyn, NY for the last fifteen years where she has created new innovative work in traditional and non-traditional space, creating long lasting International collaborations in Eastern Europe, France, Italy, Germany, among others.

She is the artistic co-director and founding member of WaxFactory, with whom she has continuously worked as an actor, director, writer, choreographer, and teacher in international venues and festivals such as the ICA/Institute of Contemporary Art (London, UK), The Gulbenkian Museum (Lisbon, Portugal), SommerSzene (Salzburg, Austria), OLTRE90 (Milan, Italy), FIT/ Festival Internacional de Teatro (Caracas, Venezuela), MESS (Sarajevo, Bosnia), the Exodos Festival and Cankarjev Dom Center for The Performing Arts (Ljubljana, Slovenia), and SummerSzene in Salzburg, Austria. In New York she has performed at La Mama, HERE, PS122, NYTW, Lincoln Center, Soho Rep, Old American Can Factory, En Garde Arts, Ohio, The Culture Project, and the Act French Festival. She has been a participant at Robert Wilson’s Watermill Center (4 years) as an Actor and Photographer.

She is a guest Associate Director of Begat Theatre (Marseille, France), with whom she was the director / sound designer for HIDDEN STORIES; LES DEMEURÉES; as well as LE JARDIN AVEUGLE, a site-specific work which won the first prize for the Concours de Projets Associatifs, Fondation Regards de Provence. She is a member of the SACD -Society of Authors, France. Erika is a former fellow at the Akademie Schloss Solitude in Stuttgart, Germany, where she wrote DELIRIUM 27, which premiered at the Stara Elektrarna in Ljubljana, Slovenia and at the Abrons Art Center in New York as part of the WaxFactory retrospective.

She was awarded a Bogliasco Fellowship in the performing arts at the Liguria Center for the Arts and Humanities to write STRANGE JOY. She is a published photographer and still photographer for independent films.
Recent film acting projects include WaxFactory's 416 MINUTES at the Japan Society, Concussion by Stacie Passon which was selected for the Sundance Film Festival in 2013, Lily by Matt Creed at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2013. She was last seen in Punchdrunk's SLEEP NO MORE at the McKittrick Hotel in New York in the role of Hecate.

As a curator she is currently co-curating mars2bklyn / bklyn2mars along with Bertie Ferdman, Claire Hallereau and with Ivan Talijancic as creative producer. mars2bklyn /bklyn2mars is a new platform for exchange between artists and cultural venues from Marseille, France and Brooklyn, NY. (

Currently she is working as a director /co-creator and sound designer for a site-specific work titled, La Disparition with Begat Theater of France. ( She is also developing Pull Yourself Together along with Ivan Talijancic and 416 minutes for WaxFactory.

In their latest project, LA DISPARITION, Begat Theater places portable media devices in the hands of an active audience. Each individual audience member experiences the story from the perspective on an “Investigator” who searches the city for a missing author. As the audience retraces her steps, synchronized sound, images, and live action blend together, leading each spectator to follow a trail of clues that draws him inside the pages of the missing author’s most enigmatic…
