Emma Cotter is a Brooklyn-based visual artist, designer and choreographer. Since 2003, she has been producing dance/performance works under the name RETTOCAMME (incorporated 2010). In addition to three installments of “The February Project,” RETTOCAMME produced another evening-length piece in 2005, “Treading Water” at the Wings Theatre in Greenwich Village. Shorter pieces and site-specific works have also been presented at Bowery Poetry Club; chashama; 92nd St Y; Solar One; Jonathan Shorr Gallery; Garnerville Arts and Industrial Center; and others. RETTOCAMME is a process-oriented performance group. During the creative process, participating artists are encouraged to perceive and react to obstacles, audience responses and external forces, allowing original ideas to transform into worlds of their own. The works are then frequently re-visited. Changes in musical accompaniment and performances in drastically different venues force the performers to continually experience the material from new perspectives.
