What stirs me the most, what moves me and what I feel most passionate about is the actor. The actor, there in the space, amongst all that life. The actor's body language and sounds. The process in action, off the stage and on it. The role of the actor with fellow actors and ultimately with their audience. The power of the actor and the exploration of this power through doing. This is what I am fascinated about most. This is where my work comes from, and where it always begins.
I am an East Midlands based Freelance Theatre Practitioner, Writer and Director for theatre and film. I have a BA (Hons) in Drama and directed and devised several productions whilst at University, including a production of Caryl Churchill’s Cloud Nine and Sweeney Todd, the original George Didbin Pitt version of the Victorian melodrama, which played at the newly opened Lincoln Performing Arts Centre as the centrepiece of a major Conference exploring Victorian Melodrama in May 2008. My first play, Going Down, which I also directed, premièred at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2008. I have produced, developed and directed several independent plays, performance events, workshops and play readings, promoting new theatre work, practice and performance in the East Midlands as Artistic Director of 4FRONT Performance Company 2008/2012.
I love meeting new people, collaborating and discussing possibilities (and coffee! I love coffee!). I am available to run workshops for actors and students, as well as writing, directing and creating new works for theatre and independent short and feature film.
