Alex Cassal is historian, performer and director. He born at Porto Alegre, Brazil, where worked with the Tribo de Atuadores Oi Nois Aqui Traveiz. At the last 25 years, he has experienced theater, circus, dance, video, live art and performance. Since 1996, Alex lives in Rio de Janeiro, where he collaborates with dance and theater artists like Enrique Diaz, Dani Lima, Gustavo Ciríaco, Denise Stutz, Alice Ripoll and Felipe Rocha. Alex’s work explores an intimate relationship with the audience and a kind of Brecht’s alienation effect in the performance situation. He argues the value of the individual experience and language as a tool which link our reality with the other’s one.
