During this singular workshop we will work on an archaic singing technique typical for cultures of the Central and Eastern Europe. We can describe it as a mixture of shouting and singing. It is also known in Poland as a "bright voice" because it gives the impression of brightness, it pierces with its strong vibration. It's strongly connected to the specifics of the culture and the type of songs encountered in the given region. It has no bonds to the classical music education but it reaches the most deep field of our sound expression and it is - in fact - absolutely natural for human beings. If it's so natural why we don't sing like that? This type of voice emission was strongly connected to the people's surroundings - it grew out of open, rural spaces. That's why the voice simply needed to be strong. Our connection with our body and mind it's also different nowadays - we're living mostly in our heads, we're are often psychically and physically blocked. Our common urban surrounding it's not so welcoming for a strong, resonating voice. We need to be quiet and respect the rules of our limited space in the cities. This workshop is dedicated to change that situation and give you a chance to experience this unique vocal technique.
