Event Description

„The fundamental rule of Biomechanics is very simple: the whole body participates in every movement“

W. Meyerhold

The theatrical-Biomechanics training is composed of a comprehensiv compendium of exercises in favor of development and improvement of the physical constitution of the actor, as well as for the study of principles of movement (analyses and construction).
The focus lies on the play of body-balance, rhythm, space and perception of the body, as well as on the musicality and the poetic expression of the body in movement.
Awareness of form, spatial coordination, bodycontrol, rhythm and musicality, but especially excentric and grotesque, in other words the quest for physical extremes are the characteristics of the biomechanical play culture.
Biomechanical trained actors generally posses a very large spectrum of expression possibilities and are easily capable of changing rapidly from an expressiv-artificial to a reduced naturalistic or slapstick and clowning way of acting.
The astonishing diversity of the Biomechanics and its capacity to integrate new influences in its system makes it an effective and contemporary tool for acting, reflecting all the estetics of modern theatre.
