In 2012 beinghuman is holding a unique beinghuman art residency in Galicia, in the North West of Spain from 19th to 26th May. A residency designed for you to relax & release your creativity.
beinghuman has rented a “casa rural” in Galicia, near the UNESCO world heritage city of Santiago De Compostela, the amazing Galician rias & wild Atlantic coast. We have been journeying to Galicia, an ancient destination for pilgrims, for years & love this cool & green, Celtic corner of Spain.
The residency is an opportunity to really relax & explore your creativity, bring that long held yet unstarted / unfinished artistic project & your laptop, body, pen, paper, paints... as each morning in the main room there will be sessions with members of the beinghuman collective, who can help you focus on your creative projects.
The week is led by award winning multi media artist & director of the beinghuman collective, Gaynor O'Flynn. As well as being an experienced TV producer/director, Gaynor has exhibited & performed globally as a multi media artist, is experienced in extreme location filming from Easter Island to the Himalayas, has worked in a media capacity for the Dalai Lama & is curating Katmandu International Art Fair in 2012 www.gaynoroflynn.com
Members of the collective work with BBC, Channel 4, ITV, Sadlers Wells, Royal Ballet, ICA, Welcome Trust, Tate Gallery, most major art & music festivals & many inspirational artists including Bjork, Radiohead, Nitin Sawhney & Antony Gormley. They are experienced in music, TV, film, web, photography, interactive art & digital production.
The initial sessions will be focused on establishing what it is you really love & want to do. Then there will be opportunities to collaborate & attend sessions in film production & direction, camera work, film editing in final cut, simple web design in i web & wordpress, basic music production in ableton, creative writing, performance, voice, digital marketing, press & PR.
Each afternoon we will go out on location moving, walking, sourcing & sampling footage, sound & images or simply relaxing & seeking inspiration.
Evenings we will cook & eat together around the campfire, visit local restaurants, festivals or concerts.
You will be totally free to come & go, attend sessions or not, spend time with the group or alone... as you wish!
There is also an opportunity to perform with the collective on the last night of the holiday during a multi media performance with t.b.c. in Santiago De Compostela.
Please note we have limited places & you will also be asked to submit examples of previous work.
